Building

EM-VideoRecorder

A workbench that brings scripts, section-by-section recording, and take selection together.

Personal Use · Continuous Iteration

Record a script, one section at a time

Even a carefully prepared script can take several attempts in front of a camera. This workbench brings the script, recording, and take selection together: record each section, choose the version to keep, then prepare a clear handoff.

What this workbench does

  • Confirm the script, then focus on recording: paste a script divided into sections and check it before entering a script-focused recording view. Long scripts scroll within their own area; recording keeps one main action: end this section.
  • Keep candidates and choose after comparing: keep or discard a take after recording. Re-record when needed, then play back and compare different takes for the same section in the clip library.
  • Turn selected takes into a handoff: reorder or exclude clips and preview the selects sequence. Once confirmed, create a separate package containing the chosen videos and a handoff manifest.

Recording workspace

Get ready before recording

Before recording, check your framing and how you look in the camera preview, make sure the microphone is picking up your voice, then adjust the script display.

Stay focused on what you want to say

During recording, the view focuses on the current segment, with recording status and a camera preview close at hand.

Take selection and sequencing

Choose the right take for each segment

Review the takes for each segment, watch them back, and choose the version to use.

Bring the selected takes into one complete piece

Arrange the sequence, leave out segments when needed, and preview everything together before finalizing the handoff.

The trade-offs behind this build

I keep recording and production in separate workbenches. Recorder focuses on reading, recording, choosing takes, and handing them off. Subtitles, visual composition, and more involved editing come later. Scripts and recordings stay on my computer so I can return to the project.

How the two workbenches connect

Recorder passes on the selected clips and their playback order. Video-Maker copies that handoff into its own project and continues with rough cuts, subtitles, and visual layouts. Each workbench manages its own project files.

Current progress

The main workflow for section recording, take selection, sequence previews, and handoff packaging is implemented for my own use. I’m still refining the recording experience and the connection between the two workbenches. A fresh real-device recording check for the latest changes is pending; the tool isn’t publicly available.
